Classic Legends Private Limited is a company incorporated in the year 2015 with the sole purpose of bringing the classical motorcycle brands in India back to production by the means of licensing or acquisition.
History
Classic Legends was founded in the year 2015 by Anupam Thareja along with Boman Rustom Irani[1]. Irani, who comes from the Rustomjee Group, which once held the rights to manufacture Jawa motorcycles in India and later introduced the Yezdi brand of Motorcycles in India.
Indian automotive major Mahindra & Mahindra acquired the controlling rights of the Classic Legends by purchasing 60% stake in the company in 2016[2].
Operations
The company currently operates two motorcycle brands and has one brand in the pipeline.
Jawa
In 2018, the Jawa brand of motorcycles was re-introduced in India by Classic Legends under an exclusive licensing deal with the Czech Motorcycle company Jawa Moto. Currently, there are three models under the Jawa brand name in the Indian market:

Yezdi
Classic Legends re-launched the Yezdi brand in India in the year 2022, bringing back the Yezdi brand was one of the company’s core objectives.[3]
There are three models offered under this brand:
. Yezdi Roadster . Yezdi Scrambler . Yezdi Adventure
Currently, the Yezdi Motorcycles are sold at the same showrooms as Jawa, co-branded as Jawa Yezdi showrooms.
BSA
Classic Legends acquired full rights to manufacture and distribute motorcycles under the BSA brand name globally in the year 2018 with a 3.4 Million GBP deal with the BSA Company.[4]
Ashish Joshi was appointed as Director of the BSA Company. The company has announced its first product, the BSA Gold Star, which is a modern variant of the classic model. It has been designed in the UK and will be made in India.
The company also has plans to introduce electric motorcycles in the future for which a technical centre has been set up in Coventry.[5]
