"Classico" is a song by American rock band Tenacious D, featured on their 2006 second studio album The Pick of Destiny. The song also features on the band's 2006 movie Tenacious D in The Pick of Destiny, for which the album is the soundtrack.

Background[edit]

The song, as featured in the movie, is an exploration of classical guitar music in aid of proving Kyle Gass's musical prowess to Jack Black. In it, Gass plays sections from Bach's Bourrée in E minor (from Suite in E minor, BWV 996), Für Elise by Beethoven and Eine Kleine Nachtmusik (Serenade in G Major, K. 525: I. Allegro) by Mozart. Jack sings along harmoniously to Gass' guitar playing, greatly impressing a passing pizza delivery boy, Lee.

Tenacious D previously used the theme from the Bach Bourrée in their song "Rock Your Socks".

Music video[edit]

The video was animated by John Kricfalusi, creator of The Ren & Stimpy Show, and features cartoon versions of band members Jack Black and Kyle Gass performing in front of an audience of various animals. It was first aired during the week beginning October 30, 2006.[1]
