Clay and Jen Pierce in 2001 founded the company based on the belief that they could offer an excellent HVAC experience to residential customers in New Jersey. Prior to starting the company, Clay was a highly trained NATE, EPA and BPI-certified technician. As for Jen, her background was not in HVAC nor in business –rather, she was able to apply scientific research skills she gained from receiving a degree in biochemistry from Lafayette College in Easton, PA and working as a pharmaceutical sales representative.[3]
For the first 10 years of the business, Clay was very involved in the day-to-day activities while Jen was in the background –her mother was working in the office while she was home with young kids, though Jen was able to remotely oversee the office management.[1] The company had a large part in the effort to repair the damage from Hurricane Sandy for three years which the company did consistent work due to the Sandy flooding, and “some homes to this day are still needing work.”[4]
In 2020, Clay's Climate Control was awarded with ACCA's Residential Contractor of the Year. “We are honored to be recognized by industry leaders as ACCA’s 2020 Residential Contractor of the Year,” said Clay and Jen Pierce, owners of Clay's Climate Control. “When we started our business in 2001, we wanted to change the expectations people had for home service experiences. Little did we know how much work that would take or the resources we would need. With connections we have made through ACCA and the opportunities they provide us, we have been able to make significant progress towards that goal. This recognition shows us how far everyone at Clay’s Climate Control has come.” [5]

As of January 2021, Clay's Climate Control is headquartered in Linwood, NJ, but has over 17 service areas in the South Jersey area including towns in Atlantic County and Cape May County.[6]
Miscellaneous[edit]
Clay and Jen are also very active in the community because of their three children, Cody, Brooke and Ty. They donate to many local causes and volunteer their time through charity events, schools and sports.[7]
