Kacy Ross, known professionally as Clay Pigeon, is an American radio disc jockey, journalist, and film maker. He is the host of morning variety radio show Wake n Bake, which airs on the United States' longest running freeform radio station, WFMU out of Jersey City, NJ.[1]

Radio Career[edit]

Originally from Audubon, Iowa, Ross went to broadcasting school in Fort Dodge. After school, Ross moved to Clearwater, Florida, where he DJ'ed at WTAN and 96FEVER while also playing guitar with the rock band Deloris Telescope. Florida is where Ross recorded his first man-on-the-street interviews. After working on his first WFMU project, the Dusty Show, Ross relocated to New York in 2007 to be with his wife. As of June 2017, Ross has been the host of the WFMU morning Show Wake n Bake, airing out of Jersey City, NJ.[2][3] Ross' morning show has shifted away from his political interviews to offer a show that is, as Ross describes it "an oasis where we don't talk about politics at all because there's so much of that available the rest of the day."[4] Among the show's many segments is Weird NJ Audio Stories, a sample of stories from travel guide and authors Weird NJ.[5]

One October Documentary[edit]

In addition to hosting Wake, Ross also starred in the Rachel Shuman-directed and Edward Norton-produced 2017 documentary One October, which features Ross utilizing his signature vox pop interviews to explore the social and political dynamics of New York City in 2008.[6][7] The film has received a Rotten Tomatoes score of 100% based on 5 film critics.[8]
