CloudRail
CloudRail is a web API integration tool created by Licobo GmbH. The tool allows software developers to use a common library of functions across multiple web APIs. In this way, a developer using CloudRail need only include a single library when developing web applications, rather than managing each service separately.[1]
CloudRail is freeware for personal and commercial use, and has no paid version. Licobo has indicated that no paid version is planned.[2]
Origin
The Licobo GmbH company was founded by Felix Kollmar & David Amann. The company's first product was a phonebook that aggregated contact details from different networks (LinkedIn, Xing).[3] Initially started as an internal tool to Database abstraction layer, the CloudRail Library was further developed from this concept to include more APIs and become its own tool. In first-round funding, Licobo received over €540k of funding from investor companies such as Leonardo Venture and BVM to develop the tool.[4]
Features
CloudRail employs the following features:
- One-to-Many Functions: Developers can use the same Subroutine no matter what service they use.
- API Updates: Developers can rely on CloudRail to update when external APIs update.
- Support: Software Developers have one point of contact for problems with multiple APIs.
Supported Languages
The CloudRail Library is available for iOS, Android, and Java platforms. Support has been announced for Node.js and PHP developers[citation needed].
