Clyde's Drive-In
Clyde's Drive-In is a small chain of historic burger drive-ins in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan in the United States.
The first Clyde's was opened in 1949.[1] by Clyde VanDusen, a Michigan Tech student. The original location stayed open until 3 a.m. and featured servers on roller skates.[2][3]
The chain currently has three locations. The original location is inSault Ste. Marie (opened 1949). It is only open seasonally, opening in the spring and closing in the fall.[4] There are also locations in Manistique (opened 1969), [5][6] and a third location in Saint Ignace which opened in 1971 and shares the name, though is independently owned.[7] Former locations include one in Rudyard off the I-75 373 exit.[citation needed]
Clyde's motto is "Wear a Smile", and the outlets are known for offering the "Big C." burger (3/4 lb burger), and the "Big B." burger.[8]
