Coach is a health and fitness website owned by Future plc. It is edited in London. It primarily offers advice on fitness including suggested workouts, exercise guides and training advice, as well as health, including nutrition and supplements.

Coach began as a free weekly health and fitness magazine for men. Its first issue was published on 7th October 2015. Dennis Publishing invested £3 million in the launch.[1] It joined a free magazine market of Stylist, ShortList, Time Out London, Sport and NME, predominantly distributed by hand in London.

The founding editor was Ed Needham, who had previously edited FHM and FHM (UK), Rolling Stone and Maxim.[2]

Coach’s website became the new website for content from Men’s Fitness UK, which was also owned by Dennis Publishing. Joe Barnes, the editor of Men’s Fitness UK at the time, took responsibility for editing the website.[3]

Coach’s first ABC certificate showed a circulation of 300,704 between January and March 2016.[4][5]

In 2016, Coach collaborated with Fitbit on a new endurance event called the Fitbit Fifty, a team relay challenge to run and ride from Buckingham Palace to Edinburgh Castle and back in under 50 hours.[6]

Coach was shortlisted for launch of the year at the British Media Awards 2016.[7]

Coach magazine’s final issue was on 14th December 2016. James Tye, CEO of Dennis Publishing said “2016 has turned out to be a much tougher print advertising environment than expected for a new launch in the narrow health and fitness sector, which has made continuing to publish Coach in its current format, unsustainable.”[8]

The website was retained and continues to publish. In 2021, Coach was acquired by Future plc as part of the purchase of Dennis Publishing.[9]
