Cogenhoe Primary School is a coeducational primary school located in the village of Cogenhoe, Northamptonshire, England. The school serves students aged 4 to 11 and is administered by the West Northamptonshire local authority.

History

Opened in 1971 [1], Cogenhoe Primary School was established to provide education for primary-aged children in Cogenhoe village and the surrounding area.

In February 2019, Ofsted stated that the school maintained the good quality of education noted at the last inspection. [2]

In 2021, the school was praised for its support for students and parents during the COVID-19 lockdown period. [3]

The school converted to academy status in 2022 and joined the Nene Valley Partnership. [4]

In 2023, the school opened a forest school. The forest school was officially opened in February 2023 by Steve Backshall. [5]

Facilities

The school is a single-site building situated on Station Road, Cogenhoe. It includes seven classrooms, library space, and offices. At the rear of the building is outdoor play space containing outdoor gym equipment and a caged MUGA pitch.

The main building has been expanded since it was first built to accommodate new offices and further teaching space. [6]

Student Leadership

The school operates a student council and school prefect system. The Student Council, elected annually, involves students from each year group.

Year 6 students can apply to be Prefects, taking on roles such as House Captains and school ambassadors. [8]

Community Involvement

The school participates in community service projects and collaborates with local organizations like the Northamptonshire Rotary Club and Cogenhoe Bowls Club, situated next to the school building. [8]

The school took part in the 2024 EMAT Olympics [9] competing against schools from the Nene Valley Partnership and East Midlands Academy Trust.
