Colegio Hebreo Unión (also known as CHU) is a bilingual Jewish private school that offers Preschool through 12th-grade education. The school is located in Barranquilla, Colombia.

Description[edit]

Colegio Hebreo Unión was founded in 1930 by the Jewish community in Barranquilla. It is accredited by the Colombian Ministerio de Educación Nacional and the Cognia-AdvancED accrediting agency. CHU is also affiliated with international organizations such as the Bereau Veritas.[1]

History[edit]

Its founder was Adolfo Haftel, who sought to offer an alternative and the need to preserve culture for the Jewish families that inhabited the city. When the school was inaugurated, a liberal and multicultural education was implemented where Jewish, Catholic, Christian and other creed children and youth lived together in values and respect.[2]

Curriculum[edit]

Colegio Hebreo Unión offers its students three languages such as Spanish, English and Hebrew.[3]
