Colm O’Regan is an Irish comedian..[1] author[2] columnist and broadcaster[3] from Dripsey, Co.Cork[4]. He is best known as the creator of the popular Irish Mammies twitter account and series of books.

Career[edit]

O’Regan appeared at the Montreal Just for Laughs comedy festival in 2007[5]. He has been a regular at the Kilkenny Cat Laughs comedy festival since his debut in 2006[6][7][8]. He made his Edinburgh Festival Fringe debut in 2009[9] and returned in 2011[10]. He has regularly appeared at Irish festivals such as Electric Picnic[11][12][13][14] All Together Now[15] Body & Soul[16] Vodafone Comedy Festival[17] and the Kilkenomics[18] festival.

O’Regan is the author of three humorous non-fiction books about the Irish Mother - Isn't It Well For Ye?: The Book of Irish Mammies[19] published in 2012, That’s More of it Now - the Second Book of Irish Mammies[20] published in 2013 and It’s Earlier tis Getting - the Christmas Book of Irish Mammies[21] published in 2014. These sprang from the satirical @irishmammies Twitter account, which O’Regan created in 2011[22] which has over 200,000 followers.[23][24].

O’Regan has also written another non fiction book - Bolloxollogy[25], published in 2016, and 2 novels - Ann Devine, Ready for Her Close-Up[26]published in 2019 and Ann Devine, Handle with Care[27] published in 2020.

Since 2013 O’Regan has been a weekly columnist for the Irish Examiner newspaper[28]

Since 2016 O’Regan has been the writer and presenter of the radio show “Colm O’Regan Wants a Word” on RTE Radio 1[29].[30]

In 2020 O’Regan launched the Function Room[31], a maths based podcast which he hosts and produces.

O’Regan has narrated three series of Francis Brennan’s Grand Tour[32] on RTE.

O’Regan is the host of the Dublin Story Slam[33], a monthly live storytelling event.

O’Regan also runs and hosts the monthly comedy club Inn Jokes in Dublin 8[34][35]
