Malacates Ampliación is the northernmost neighborhood (colonia) of Mexico City in the Gustavo A. Madero borough, built at foot of the mountains of the Sierra de Guadalupe. It's an expansion of the Malacates colonia, though much larger than the original. The main draw of Malacates is as an entryway to the Sierra de Guadalupe Protected Natural Area. The buildings here are constructed primarily of concrete block, which is typical of emerging neighborhoods.[1]
Religious institutions[edit]
Capilla San Judas Tadeo is a catholic chapel on the edge of the city overlooking the neighborhood. Another catholic chapel, Capilla de San Martin de Porres, lies closer to the bordering Veronica Castro neighborhood. Iglesia De Lomas de Cuautepec is a Light of the World church.
Businesses[edit]
The main business area of the neighborhood is around the intersection of San Miguel and De Las Palmas, although businesses can be found throughout the area.
