Lower Bazaar is a major shopping centre of Shimla city in the North Indian state of Himachal Pradesh. mainly for the tourists. Lower Bazaar is situated below Mall Road and Middle Bazaar. It is a long stretch staring from near D.C. Office and ends near Indira Gandhi Sports Complex.[1]

History and Etymology[edit]
As the name suggests, the Lower Bazaar means the market for lower people, which means for Indians at the British time and the Upper Bazaar (Mall Road) was for upper people which was for Britishers at that time. This is one of the most prominent examples which shows the conservative and rigid mindset of the British Raj.[2]

It is the major market for Shimlaites. The market is a general market and has available every household items necessary for daily needs. The market is adjacent to Ganj Bazaar, Sabzi Mandi and Ram Bazaar.[3]
