The inaugural IPF-affiliated Commonwealth Powerlifting Championships were held in Northumberland, England from September 9th to 11th, 2005.
The nations at the inaugural Championships were:
Australia
Canada
England
Fiji
India
New Zealand
Nigeria
Northern Ireland
Pakistan
Scotland
South Africa
Wales
Nigeria, which nominated a team, did not attend.
Team England won the major trophies for both men and women.
