Companies Act, No. 7 of 2007.
The Companies Act. No 7 of 2007 is an Act of the Parliament of Sri Lanka which acts as the main source of Sri Lankan Company Law. It is classified as Act to amend and consolidate the law relating to companies. It was preceded by the Companies Act, No 17 of 1982 The Act was enacted by the Parliament of Sri Lanka on the 20th of October, 2006 and was certified by the Speaker on the 20th of March 2007 . The Act came into force on the 3rd of May 2007 by Order made of the Minister of Trade, Marketing Development, Co-operative and Consumer Affairs. It was published in the Gazette Extraordinary No. 1493/20 dated 20th April 2007. It superseded the Companies Act, No 17 of 1982.
This Act is the main source of company law for Sri Lanka, it contains the rules, procedures, and various technical requirements for companies incorporated or registered in Sri Lanka.
