Computational writing
Computational writing or computational publishing[1] is a digital-first approach to writing that integrates text with multimedia such as images, video, audio, charts, interactive graphics, 3D models, maps, source code,[2] and tables. It emphasizes software-based authoring and publishing workflows that make multimedia documents easier to create, version, and share online.[3] Computational writing brings together hypertext, Markdown, mathematical notation, chemistry notation, and LaTeX for a variety of writing formats so that text can be combined with embedded media and computer code elements for interactive charts, maps, animation, structural formulas, or other multimedia. Authors can assemble this hypermedia into publications designed primarily for the web, electronic publishing, and other ebook formats such as EPUB.[4]
