Concrete Technology
Concrete Technology addresses the properties of concrete needed in construction applications, including strength and durability, and provides guidance on all aspects of concrete from mix design to batching, mixing, transporting, placing, consolidating, finishing, and curing.[1] It is the method and technique used in the production and use of concrete as a building material.[2] Concrete technology can also be defined as the science of efficient, cost-effective, and safe design in civil engineering projects.[3] This field of study focuses on the development and application of advanced techniques and technologies in the design, production, and maintenance of concrete and concrete structures.[4] It is the study of concrete's characteristics and its uses in real-world situations.[5]
Benefits[edit]
Concrete technology offers several benefits, including its use of abundant raw materials like limestone, the ability to incorporate waste by products, durability, energy efficiency, and the reduction of urban heat island effects.[6] It has also led to the development of high-performance concrete and ultra-high-performance concrete that aid in improving construction efficiency.[7] In the making of robust and long-lasting structures, concrete technology is fundamental. It makes it attainable for developers to build top-notch structures, bridges, and facilities that provide resilience to several kinds of external influences, strength, and sturdiness. It is essential to contemporary building and guarantees the durability of designed structures.[8]
