Constitution Day is a national holiday in Spain. It is celebrated on December 6th, and was established by Royal Decree 2964, November 30th, 1983. It is a celebration of the 1978 referendum in which the Spanish people approved, by a large majority, the current Constitution of Spain. It entered into force on the day of its publication in the Official State Gazette, December 29th of the same year . Each year on December 6th, the State Administration, the Armed Forces, and educational centers hold various commemorative events.
