Contact High Project

Contact High Project is a weekly photo and interview column currently published by Mass Appeal Magazine in New York. It is also an exhibit/seminar platform and a book in development. The series, created in 2016 by music journalist Vikki Tobak, focuses on the stories behind the creation of iconic Hip hop photographs, specifically analog proof sheets created with traditional film cameras.[1][2][3][4][5]

To date, the column has featured images of artists such as; Biggie Smalls, Tu Pac, Jay Z, Slick Rick, Eazy E, NWA, LL Cool J, and Jeru The Damaja along with interviews of the image creators by Tobek. Photographers have included; Janette Beckman, Stephen Shames, Barron Clairborne, Ithaka Darin Pappas, Jamil GS, Chi Modu, Jamel Shabazz and Lucian Perkins.
