"Cop and a Half-wit" is the fifteenth episode of the fifteenth season of the animated sitcom Family Guy, and the 284th episode overall. It aired on Fox in the United States on March 12, 2017, and is written by Ray James and directed by John Holmquist.[1] The episode's title is a play on the 1993 film Cop and a Half.
Plot[edit]
At the Drunken Clam, Peter, Quagmire, and Cleveland are enjoying drinks and a TV show with a running joke about Arnold Schwarzenegger looking for housekeepers to impregnate, when Joe arrives from work. He describes the pathetic, lame tasks he has to do and his friends are shocked at how far he's fallen from being the heroic street cop they used to know.
At the Grocery Cart, Stewie gets offended when a shopkeeper picks up Rupert after Stewie threw him at Lois and offers the doll back to Lois' "little girl". Stewie plans on signing up for football to prove his masculinity. Brian tells him that he's too young to play football, but Stewie does not listen.
At the Griffin house, Joe gives Peter a ride when his car gets flushed. During the ride, Joe gets a call to intercept some drugs. Joe plans to blow it off, but Peter insists on catching them. They arrive at the drug-dealers location and Peter aggressively busts into the drug hideout, but his foolishness prompts Joe to intervene. Although Peter violated police protocol, the chief of police congratulates Joe for busting the dealers, but he thinks that he did it single-handedly and Joe, instead of saying that it was the cause of Peter, takes the credit for it.
Joe begins to use Peter to apprehend crooks, but Peter soon discovers that Joe was exploiting him when he sees Mayor Adam West commend Joe on the news. Peter confronts Joe on him taking credit. Joe explains that he could get into trouble if he reveals that Peter has been doing the work, so Peter blackmails him into giving him stuff from the police storage. Joe agrees and it's revealed that it was Quagmire in disguise.
After arriving at a football tryout, Brian at first tries to pull Stewie out, but after being harassed by a mother of one of the football players, Brian lets him participate and even goads the coach to let him in despite his size. However, after Stewie catches the ball, he is dog-piled by a bunch of kids on the opposing team, giving him a concussion. Brian desperately tries to hide Stewie's concussion from Lois. At the hospital, Stewie is cured, but bemoans that his masculinity won't be recognized, but is delighted when the coach from his football team congratulates him for taking a hit like that. Chris tries to talk about the danger of concussions but is pointedly covered up by an NFL logo and his comments are drowned out by music and obscured by three dancing cheerleaders.
After Bonnie commends on Joe's false heroic actions, he is motivated to forgo Peter's blackmail, but Peter agrees to help him with one last job when the Quahog Mini-Mart is being robbed. Peter is blinded on his way to the Mart and begins shooting his gun recklessly before the robbers hold both him and Carl captive. Joe forgoes calling backup and manages to deal with the situation single-handedly, which amazes him and he realizes that he was so knocked-down at people treating him as an errand boy, but Peter's actions helped him man up.
