Corey Ellis

Corey Ellis (Sculptor) (1981) Is an American Mid Century Modern metal Sculpture Artist. He was born and raised in Riverside, California. Working as an electrical contractor in California and North Carolina. He decided to move out of California to Arizona and work full time as a sculpture artist under his Business name. He currently resides there with his wife and their 3 children.

Early Career[edit]

Corey is completely self taught as a sculpture artist. He started out by making pieces for friends and family in his garage welding items together and working on his hobbies. Unfortunately when the big layoff happened in early 2012 he decided it was time to become a professional Artist. Being obsessed with the past and the art that came out of the past and the techniques and skills that have died with the past. I have spent tremendous amounts of time researching and experimenting with the old techniques. While continuing to work full time as an electrician, he started by making Mid Century / Modern Pieces inspired by artist such as C Jere, William Bowie and Harry Bertoia. He started putting his pieces up for sale on eCommerce sites, such as[1] Ebay. He slowing starting selling his art and taking off as an artist. [2]

Mid Career - Present[edit]

Corey's Mid Century Modern Sculptures started flourishing online and he decided to become a Sculpture Artist full time creating not only Mid-Century Modern Sculptures, but other types of sculptures. such as body forms, abstract pieces, minimalism, And Modern art.

Work[edit]

To date Corey Has sold over 1500 sculptures all over the world. Since early 2016 he started Commissioning bigger sculptures for Corporate Companies like Lincare Holdings and Herman Miller (manufacturer) ( 60th Birthday Show). Hotels such as Hilton Hotels & Resorts , The Garland Hotel, Our Fathers Deli to name a few. Corey continues to do commission installations primarily as that is what he loves to do. You can see his large installations and Commission work in over 15 different locations in the United States alone

Corey Ellis Artist who Created Dead Mailbox

In August of 2018 Corey became a finalist in the Annual Art Awards Ceremony, [3]Art Comes Alive Annual Art. He ended up winning 2 awards . [4]His Piece Called looking In was also featured at the Awards Art Gallery From October 6th, November 30th.

In 2017 he was featured in a local newspaper about his early life and what he intends on doing as an artist in Arizona.[5]

In 2018 he started doing for a personal sculpture line that is called, What Killed The Past with caused a little bit of issues in the The Daily Courier titled Email did it [6] He then went on record to tell his side of the story about why he choose to pick a Mailbox [7]. The Artist Behind the Mailbox and why he was going to continue to leave pieces in random places in AZ. Which was then again in the newspaper and on the radio due to the fact that someone stole the mailbox [8] . It was left on a local road a few weeks later and returned back to Corey.
