Corey Maison
Corey Maison (born 2001/2002)[1] is a transgender teenager.
Transgenderism[edit]
Maison is a trans woman, and was described by USA Today as having "battled with gender identity from a young age."[2] In an Australian 60 Minutes interview, Maison explained how she spent her "early childhood years" worrying about her parents' reactions to her gender dysphoria.[1]
In 2013, Maison came out to her parents about being a trans girl.[1] In September 2015, Maison began receiving transgender hormone therapy; a video of receiving her first dose went viral,[2] and had over seven million views as of January 1, 2018[update].[3] Maison was bullied at school, and has since published her gender transition with Instagram "to raise awareness for transgender kids."[2][1] Regarding her coming out, Maison said in 2016, "I can't believe how far I've come in less than four years […] I used to hide behind a fake smile, but now all my smiles are genuine. It feels so good to be MYSELF and it feels even better to love myself!"[2]
