Cory DeAn Cowley is an American artist who focuses on the use of blood in art. She has also self-published two psychological horror novels.[1] Her writing technique focuses on psychological narration leading to a pathway to horror.[2]

Biography

Cowley was born in Madison, Tennessee, and grew up in Hendersonville.[3][not in citation given] She owns C.D.C. Works, which operates out of Delray Beach, Florida, and focuses on graphic horror novels.[4] Cowley has published two novels Bending Reality and Dissention.[5]

Film

Along with writing, Cowley's debut in film started in 2019, starring in Absolver's video Self-Offering. The music video spawned a cult-like status among Miami natives and metal enthusiasts. Cowley then began to branch out into the metal world. Starring in over six music videos, with international and domestic acts, her passion for brutal, raw, and often times "acquired" taste for horror began to become a staple in music and film—garnering a name amongst horror enthusiasts worldwide.[citation needed]

In the fall of 2023, she will be starring in her first full-length film titled The Virginia Bitches, starring an ensemble cast such as: Randall Blythe, Heidi Butcher, Alissa White-Gluz, Efrain Quinones, and Bill Moseley. She will play the part of "Queenie."[6] In addition to that, she has also been cast in a short film titled, Mother of Lost Things, due for release in early 2023.[citation needed]

Artistry

In early 2021, Cowley began to discover her natural talent for artistry. Separating herself from her contemporaries, she decided to start utilizing bodily fluids such as blood, vomit, urine, and organic, raw animal parts to express herself. The extreme nature of her work, though controversial, became the interest of Kjetil Manheim (ex-Mayhem, Order). In mid 2021, Cowley honed her acting abilities and starred in the band's successful music video for "It Burns"[7] off their second album titled The Gospel.

Cowley's horror art is featured along with videography, on the cover of metal band Heads for the Dead's full-length album III: The Great Conjuration.[8]
