Countermeasure is an action game in which players control a tank.[1]

Development

Countermeasure was developed for the Atari 5200, and is one of the few exclusive titles for the system.[2] The game's cover art was created by Terry Hoff.[3]

Countermeasure was released in February 1983.[4][5]

Reception

Countermeasure received mixed reviews.

A review in the February 1983 issue of Computer Entertainer called the game "a superb combination of war-game action and strategic planning", and praised the depth and replay value of the gameplay.[4]

In a retrospective review, Brett Weiss called the gameplay "slow and dull", and criticized the game's graphics and high difficulty. He unfavorably compared the game to Combat (1977) for the Atari 2600.[1][6]
