History
Chemberry launched within Clariant in 2018 as a search platform for beauty and personal-care ingredients.[1] In March 2021 Clariant announced that the platform would spin out and operate independently as Covalo Ltd.[1] Trade press reported the rebrand the same day.[2]
In December 2024, Covalo acquired Cosmetitrovo, an Italian platform connecting cosmetic suppliers and service providers, as part of a regionalization strategy.[3][4]
Platform and services
Covalo operates an online platform used by brands to discover ingredients, packaging, contract manufacturers and related services, and by suppliers to publish and manage product data. Company and event profiles describe the catalogue in the tens of thousands of ingredients and hundreds to thousands of suppliers, depending on date and source.[5] Covalo’s own materials describe the service as an “operating system for the consumer goods industry”.[6]
Funding
In March 2023, Covalo announced an undisclosed round led by High-Tech Gründerfonds (HTGF) with participation from seed + speed Ventures and Gekko Group.[7][8] Swiss startup outlet startupticker.ch also covered the investment.[9]
Headquarters and operations
Public sources commonly list the company as being based in Zürich, Switzerland.[8][7]
Reception and coverage
Trade publications and event organizers in the beauty and personal-care sector reference Covalo’s role in supplier discovery and product-development workflows, including company profiles and partnership announcements.[5][10]
