Creppe is a village in the Belgian Ardennes located southwest of the city of Spa, in the province of Liège (Walloon Region of Belgium). Before the 1977 merger of the municipalities, the hamlet was already part of the municipality of Spa. It is a very beautiful village to visit, especially to walk in the woods. There is also a soccer field above the village.

Situation[edit]

Distant 3 km from the town of Spa, Creppe, surrounded by wooded massifs, is located on the plateau at an altitude of approximately 380 m, i.e. 130 m above the altitude of Spa. It borders the hamlet of Winamplanche.

Description[edit]

Creppe is a fairly concentrated village initially made up of houses and farmhouses built in sandstone rubble or red brick. Among these dwellings, many are whitewashed or painted white.

Main sights[edit]

  • The Saint-Joseph church was built in 1860 on the site of an old chapel destroyed in the fire of 1857 which devastated part of the town. In addition, there are a dozen crosses erected in the village. Most are set up at crossings of roads or paths.
  • To the south of the village is the Manoir de Lébioles, built between 1905 and 1910 on the initiative of Georges Neyt. The building and its outbuildings are built of sandstone rubble and have turrets and watchtowers. The manor house which is entirely surrounded by woods has become a hotel residence.

Activities[edit]

  • The village has a large municipal school..[1]
  • Every two years (even years) since the mid-1980s, the village has mobilized around the pancake festival which can be enjoyed in many ways in a festive atmosphere. These festivities take place on the second Sunday in September[2]
