Crescent City FC (CCFC) is an American soccer team based in New Orleans, Louisiana, that competes in the Gulf Coast Premier League.[1]
History
Crescent City FC was founded in 2015 as a non-profit organization dedicated to creating "football club culture" in New Orleans, focusing specifically on the local community and the talent developed within it.[2][3]
The club's name is derived from the "Crescent City" nickname for New Orleans, which celebrates the deep, U-shaped turn in the Mississippi River upon which the original city was founded in 1718.[4]
In 2020, it joined the Gulf Coast Premier League, citing the league's local roots, bottom-up design, and ability to expand the footprint of semi-professional soccer across the Gulf South region.[4] In order to prepare for its debut season, CCFC played friendlies against several sides from the larger National Independent Soccer Association, including Chattanooga FC.[5]
