Critical Frequency is a podcast network founded by journalist and writer Amy Westervelt[1] in March 2018.[2] The network has produced and distributed a number of podcasts including Range, Tell Me About Your Mother, Bearcat and Fury. In July 2018, they launched Gaslit Nation into Apple Podcasts Top 20[3] and in October 2018, the network added four more shows to their roster; Sip on This (hosted by Ashley Nicole Black of Full Frontal w/ Samantha Bee),[4] The Whisper Network (hosted by Nikita Hamilton),[5] and The Fifty One.[6] They also produced a limited series for The North Face called She Moves Mountains.[7]

In November, the network launched Drilled – a true crime podcast about the creation of climate change denial.[8][9] The podcast includes never before published details about how the industry funds the bulk of climate science in the United States and the sort of influence that has bought them over what gets studied. This includes the release of an internal document from ExxonMobil about how their advertorial program has effectively shifted how the media covers climate change.

Host/reporter Amy Westervelt, author of Forget Having It All: How America Messed Up Motherhood - And How to Fix It[10][11] researched and reported the podcast for more than a year, tracking down both documents and former oil company employees and scientists to uncover how exactly the industry's influence campaigns worked. The podcast is supported in part by a grant from the Institute for Global Sustainable Development.
