Cybernatural refers to any supernatural or preternatural phenomenon that takes place in the digital realm, sometimes referred to as cyberspace. Cybernatural phenomena can occur via any electronic, digital device, including but not limited to, computers, cellular phones, tablets and large scale information networks. In a broader sense, Cybernatural phenomena can be categorized as any unexplainable phenomena that occurs in the digital space.[1]

Types of Cybernatural Phenomena[edit]

There are several different types of categorized cybernatural phenomenal.

  1. Cybernatural Possession: when an entity from an occult realm takes control of your computer or other digital device and then subsequently takes control of your body/psyche.
  2. Cybernatural Sabotage: when an entity from an occult realm takes control of your computer for the purposes of damaging or otherwise seizing your digital assets (files, videos, images, etc.)[2]

Cybernatural News Stories[edit]

  1. Slender Man[3]. In 2009, the Internet Meme "Slender Man" was created. In June of 2014, two separate incidents occurred where teenagers were driven to commit attempted murders, allegedly at the bequest of the "Slender Man."
  2. Man Jailed For Urging Suicide Over the Internet.[4] A nurse was jailed for encouraging people to commit suicide via the internet. Allegedly because of demonic influences.[5]
  3. Japanese Suicide Forest [6]. Online popularization of a forest in Japan has lead it to become a leading place where people go to commit suicide.[7]
