CYBERNET SYSTEMS Co.,Ltd. is a Japanese technology company that provides CAE software[2]. It is a subsidiary of FUJISOFT Inc. [ja].

History

1967-1985: Founding

In January 1967, Control Data Far East opened a Tokyo branch office on behalf of Control Data Corporation (CDC), a U.S.-based computer company specialising in mainframe and supercomputers. Later, in May 1971, CDC established a Japanese subsidiary: CDC Japan. Starting from May 1980 onwards, CDC Japan began offering a suite of scientific computing services under the name CYBERNET Services. In April 1985, CDC Japan established CYBERNET SYSTEMS CO.,LTD. to manage and deliver its CYBERNET Services suite. CYBERNET SYSTEMS CO.,LTD. obtained a capitalisation of ¥1 million and subsequently moved to the Sunshine 60 building located in the Ikebukuro commercial district of Toshima, Tokyo[3]

1985-1998: Expansive growth

In the decade that followed, the company grew its local and regional presence, as well as its valuation, acquiring new shareholders along the way. In October 1985, it opened a branch office in the then independent Minami special ward of Osaka, which merged with the Higashi special ward to form today's Chūō special ward of Osaka prefecture. This branch is referred to as the 'Nishi-Nihon' branch. It also increased its capital to ¥196 million in November of the same year. In April 1989, Kobe Steel, Ltd., a major steel manufacturer, acquired CYBERNET SYSTEMS' stock from CDC Japan and further increased its capital to ¥400 million. In March 1994, CYBERNET SYSTEMS relocated its headquarters to the Bunkyō special ward of Tokyo. In June 1998, the company relocated its Osaka prefecture branch from Osaka city to Ōsakasayama city in order to facilitate business expansion. The relocation followed the 1987 reorganisation of Sayama city into present-day Ōsakasayama city.[3]

1999-2004: Acquisition by FUJISOFT and IPO

In October 1999, FUJISOFT Inc. wholly acquired CYBERNET SYSTEMS stock from Kobe Steel. October 2001 marked the company's listing on the JASDAQ stock exchange and an increase in capital to ¥995 million. Following this, the company opened a branch office in Nagoya city, Chubu to cover central Japan. The company listed on the Second and First Section of the Tokyo Stock Exchange in August 2002 and September 2004 respectively.[3]
