Cyclonic Storm Remal[lower-alpha 1] (/rɪmɑːl/) is an active tropical cyclone that is estimated to make landfall in Bangladesh.[1][2][3][4][5][6] The first named storm of the 2024 North Indian Ocean cyclone season, Remal formed from a low-pressure area over the west Bay of Bengal on 21 May 2024.[7][8][9][10]
Nomenclature[edit]
The Arabic word Remal (Arabic: رمل) means sand.[11] The name was given by Oman in 2018 to the World Meteorological Organization list of upcoming cyclone names.[12]
