Cyrus Ahanchian, also known as Amir Cyrus Ahanchian, Cyrus, and See Why, (born 1976)[1] is an American executive producer, film director, producer, entrepreneur, philantrophist, and screenplay writer. As an executive producer he has also had involvement in legal work. Formally he was a venture capitalist and deal negotiator.[2]
Background[edit]
From 1998 to 2000, Ahanchian was a venture capitalist and deal negotiator for Enron Investment Partners and its Houston Economic Opportunity Fund, LP, which benefited its charity partner, Covenant House.[3] The primary investment directive of this Enron Economic Development Corp (EEDC) was to invest both capital and consulting strategies into growing urban businesses as well as those owned by women and minorities.[4] According to its CEO/President Gene Humphrey, “EEDC employees helped these inner city companies and community entrepreneurs develop a business plan, a marketing campaign or a new management structure. They even sit on the company's board of directors, if that was deemed necessary.[5]
During this time Ahanchian trained in quantitative analytics through the Enron Analyst Program and on October 24, 1999, he founded Enron Media Services, a digital trading platform engineered to buy and sell 30-second television advertising spots from the American Broadcast Television Networks, including NBC, ABC, CBS, and FOX. Thereafter, Ahanchian simultaneously attended the Marshall School of Business at the University of Southern California, where he graduated with an MBA in 2004, as well as the Business of Entertainment Program at the USC School of Cinematic Arts.
He is the founder and president of Mojoflo Productions, a production company which organically brands advertisers with celebrities and athletes. From 2008 to 2014, Ahanchian served as the President and Co-Founder of the goodwill multimedia organization, Love Cures Cancer, which produced a series of red carpet live events, concerts, and celebrity promotions for the benefit of children who were being treated at Children's Hospital Los Angeles.
Legal work[edit]
Ahanchian vs. Xenon Pictures, Inc.[edit]
After working as a screenwriter on the feature film, National Lampoon's TV: The Movie, Ahanchian filed a case[6][7][8] for breach of an implied contract, copyright infringement, and unfair competition in violation of the Lanham Act against distributor Xenon Pictures, Inc., producer CKrush, Inc., director and writer Sam Maccarone, and Preston Lacy, a writer and actor in the film.[9] As a result of his legal victory in the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals, LexisNexis ranked Ahanchian’s copyright victory as both the #2 and #3 Copyright Laws of November 2010, when two new Case Laws were established in the American legal system:[10]
1. Because the author clearly demonstrated the "good cause" required by Fed. R. Civ. P. 6, and because there was no reason to believe that the author was acting in bad faith or was misrepresenting his reasons for asking for the extension, the district court abused its discretion in denying the author's timely motion for an extension.
2. As a collection of independent skits, a movie was a collective work under 17 U.S.C.S. § 101, with distinct copyrights for each skit under 17 U.S.C.S. § 201(c), and since an author testified producers stated only yes, no, or go back to it when he read them his skits, joint authorship was not shown; summary judgment to the producers was reversed.

The Good Cause Law of Civility[edit]
The Good Cause Law of Civility ensures that Cases are tried upon their merits. There is a four-factor equitable test to determine excusable neglect. Under Federal Rule of Civil Procedure 6, when an "act may or must be done within a specified time, the court may, for good cause, extend the time on motion made after the time has expired if the party failed to act because of excusable neglect." Fed. R. Civ. P. 6(b)(1).
To determine whether a party's failure to meet a deadline constitutes "excusable neglect," the Court "must apply a four-factor equitable test, examining:[11]
1. the danger of prejudice to the opposing party;
2. the length of the delay and its potential impact on the proceedings;
3. the reason for the delay; and
4. whether the movant acted in good faith.
— United States District Court, N.D. California
