D. R. Upadhyay (born 1962) is an Indian songwriter and novelist, living in Kathmandu, Nepal.[1][2]

Early life[edit]

He graduated from the Tri-Juddha Vocational High School. After that, he began attending a higher education institution in Kathmandu. He eventually travelled to India and graduated with a doctorate in Sociology.[1][3]

DR Upadhyaya has authored three song books, eleven novels, and twenty-four albums.[1][4][5]

In 2021, he received compliments from Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba for setting a global record by simultaneously publishing the same article in thirty-six national dailies.[6]

For his 108 global records, Upadhyaya received the record from former prime minister Jhala Nath Khanal.[7]

In 2022, under the patronage of Nepal's First Vice President Parmanand Jha, twenty-two world records of Upadhyay were made public, given over, and the album was released at a special ceremony in Kathmandu. He has 132 world records in the list.[8][9]
