D4-D (stands for: Direct Four Line Diesel), Common rail type direct injection used by Toyota Motor Europe in its automobiles produced and sold in the Europe market between 2000 and 2020. It is the general name of turbo diesel diesel engines. They are generally inline four-cylinder engines and the 2.2 litre ones with 177 horsepower are called D-CAT, that is Diesel Common Rail Turbo with a De-Nox catalytic converter. However, other than that, the 4.2 litre used in the Toyota Land Cruiser model was introduced to the market as a straight-six engine and the 4.5 engine displacement V8 engine. This engine was also used in BMW, Lexus and Mini.
