Early Career
Before finishing high school, Tom moved to Melbourne to persue his talents as a live samba drummer, joining up with Bad Boys Batucada, and performing with them every sunday night at The Espy for over 10 years.
At 18, Wasabi set up his own label, Fortknight Productions, under which he has produced five albums. Wasabi first played with Australian protest/punk hiphop act Combat Wombat in his home town of Newcastle, New South Wales in 2000, officially joining the group in 2002.
In 2004 he was invited to remix "Waltzing Matilda" for comic outfit Scared Weird Little Guys and subsequently performed with the trio at the Melbourne Comedy Festival National Telethon. Their album Bits and Pieces where wasabi laid down the turntable cuts, received an aria award for best comedy release that year.
He performed with and wrote music for several bands including Bad Boys Batucada, and Fortknight. He performed in groups around Melbourne including Phat Logic and was resident DJ at Big Mouth in St Kilda.
He was later a featured artist for turntable company Numark[3]
