DPDO functions

The Office functions under CDA Chennai and is headed by a Gazetted Officer of the grade SAO/AO (Senior Accounts Officer) who will be designated as DPDO and is supported by gazetted officers in the grade of AAOs (Asst Accounts Officers), Non-gazetted officers and other staffs in the rank of Auditors and Clerks. A Zonal Office Under CDA Chennai located at Thiruvananthapuram will be the Nodal point for all DPDOs working in Kerala.

Project Ashraya

DPDO Kannur operates in a semi-automated atmosphere with the help of Ashraya Software,[2] which was developed by the Defence Accounts Department. Ashraya came as a replacement for the complicated Revised New Pension Disbursing System (RNPDS). Moreover, the pensioner will continue to get his/her pension at his/her bank account as before and ensures all the periodic revisions and up gradations issued by the Ministry of Defence and PCDA (Pensions) are effected.
