The Differential Phase Shift (DPS) protocol is a quantum key distribution (QKD) method developed by Y. Yamamoto in 2002. QKD is a secure communication technique that allows two parties to establish a shared secret key over an untrusted communication channel. This key can then be used to encrypt and decrypt messages, ensuring their confidentiality and authenticity.[1]
