DP Education

DP Education is a Sri Lankan[1] non-profit educational organization created in 2019 by philanthropist Dhammika Perera and his wife Priscilla Perera. The goal of DP Education, based in Sri Lanka, is to transform teaching and learning excellence through digital and distance learning to build a competitive, knowledge-based society. Everyone deserves access to free, world-class education. By providing an online platform for local students to excel in their studies, all resources are available free to users of the website and application. At any given time, we have 700,000 active users across all our platforms. The website produces lessons, short videos, and digital songbooks for students in the form of videos. Its website also includes supplementary practice exercises and materials for educators. All resources are available for free to users of the website and application. DP Education's mission is to transform teaching and learning excellence through digital and distance learning to build a competitive society.

DP Education Foundation

The Foundation consists of three (pillars) arms: DP Education, DP Digital University[2] and DP Kids. DP Education provides materials for Mathematics, English and Science subjects from grades 1–13 in Sinhala, Tamil and English. DP Kids[3] is created for children between the ages of 2 and 7 years old according to the local curriculum. DP Kids [4] has collaborated with leading education technology innovator, Age of Learning, Inc, USA [5]– creator of award-winning platforms like ABCmouse.com, to bring the latest researched techniques in learning and create its learning experiences for our kids. DP Kids website has also made a concerted effort to localize its content structure, utilizing the unique skills of famous and acclaimed songwriters like Mrs Sybil Wettasinghe, who is the doyen of Sri Lankan children’s literature and art. DP Education platform is a first-of-its-kind in the world on which the entire school curriculum is available for students to study online for free.

Free Education for University Students

DP University[6] for students who want to pursue their higher studies has an extensive library of 5,700+ free courses covering Accounting and Finance, Business Management, Computer Science, Engineering and 40 more categories from 50 world-renowned universities.

DP Foundation launches ‘DP Education Virtual Classroom[7]’ where selected schools are provided with DP Education content along with a smart, state-of-the-art interactive TV system to access unlimited educational content. DP Education has received the YouTube Silver play button for the DP Education Sinhala channel for 100,000 subscribers.

EDUCATION DEVELOPMENT PROJECTS

The foundation also provides donations for schools that are in desperate need of infrastructure in rural areas of Sri Lanka. One thousand preschools have been developed in Sri Lanka with educational toys, furniture, and infrastructure development. Fifteen hundred schools will receive unlimited access to DP Education[8] content with state-of-the-art interactive TV systems. The first school selected for digitizing is Dambana Kanishta Vidyalaya by providing tabs for students and teachers and overall improving the infrastructure of the school. Free IT course for software development with the University of Moratuwa Sri Lanka. The aim is to produce 50,000 Full-stack IT software developers annually.

DP Education

Attracted 500,000 students to their platform[9] in the past two years. Offering a free-of-charge diploma bundling Math, English and IT in collaboration with the University of Moratuwa for students aged 18 and above. Received the YouTube Silver play button for the DP Education Sinhala channel for 100,000 subscribers. A fun digital learning platform with over 2300 video learning materials from preschool to primary levels (Grades 1-5). "Innovative ways of fostering education and making it available online will definitely lead to a more educated and skilled workforce. VIRTUAL LAB PRACTICALS

Free lab practical video lessons are available for A/L Physics in Sinhala, Tamil, and English mediums.

DP Coding School for kids

Aims to improve the digital literacy of all local school children. Coding enhances critical thinking and problem-solving skills for kids. All coding enthusiasts can access free coding video lessons from the DP Coding School. Website and DP Coding School YouTube channel. The platform contains 32 active projects with free access. Coding is essential for future kids since more products are all digitalized. This programming language teaching helps their creative side and also enhances critical thinking.

DP IELTS

DP provides excellent free coaching in IELTS for students who want to travel abroad for higher education internationally. This program will be suitable for all service industries, such as the ICT and the finance sectors. For the first time in Sri Lanka, all learners of DP IELTS can test their knowledge with Artificial Intelligence-assisted IELTS mock-up tests.

DP DIGITAL UNIVERSITY

Free access to over 8000 courses offered by the global best universities. Anyone can upskill their knowledge for free and also get a certificate from DP Foundation. Over 40 subject categories include business management, computer science, accounting, interior design, and personal development.
