DWFritz Automation, Inc. was established in Oregon in 1973 by Dennis Fritz, who opened a one-man engineering consultancy focusing on the lumber industry. By 1989, his operation had grown to incorporate precision automation. Working with Hewlett-Packard, company revenue exceeded $1 million as he and his small team began innovating high-speed, precision automation.[1]

In the 1980s, Fritz grew the company to three employees and expanded his business to include industrial and consumer products. Manufacturers that had complicated production issues came to DWFritz to help them design equipment to fit their needs. The team of three would design custom manufacturing equipment and the customer's problems would be solved through innovative technology developed by Fritz and his employees.[1]

In 2010, the company changed its entire focus to consumer electronics and began providing precision automation systems to do assembly and inspection of cell phones and tablets. Because the demand for manufacturing equipment grew, Fritz and his team developed specialized manufacturing machines to do jobs humans couldn't do.[1]

Also in 2010, a second location was opened in Shanghai called DWFritz China. The company employs 30 people in China who service the company's automation systems although all of the engineering and manufacturing of equipment is done in the United States in Oregon.[1]

In 2016, the company opened a second facility in Oregon dedicated to the advanced manufacturing of medical devices and electric vehicles. Today, through a series of technological advances DWFritz has made breakthroughs in precision automation which has been used by companies like Boeing, Hewlett-Packard and Intel among others.[2]

The company changed its name to DWFritz Automation, Inc. in 1992 and employs over 200 people in Wilsonville, Oregon, and over 220 in China.[2]
