Dale Armin Johnson (born December 31, 1969 )[3] is an American film producer and managing partner of MICA Entertainment. He is also founder of a film financing company Lynmar Entertainment LLC, a parent company of MICA Entertainment.[4] Under his guidance, MICA Entertainment finances nearly 4-6 theatrical releases per annum.[5]

Film career[edit]

Johnson has received his training in film banking with LEW HORWITZ, who is generally regarded as father of modern film financing.[6] Together they have co-produced Somnia later named as Before I Wake (2016 film).[7]

In 2011, Dale Johnson has been invited to Michigan Film Industry Panel Discussion during 2nd Annual DIFF(Dubai International Film Festival) to address the young and aspiring film makers on "How to finance a movie" which took place at Birmingham,Michigan.[8]

In 2013, Johnson served as executive producer for the film “oculus”.[9] Oculus opened to a very positive experience and the director Mike Flanagan has extended to collaborate with MICA Entertainment for next two projects. As a result, "Somnia" has been released under MICA Entertainments banner. In an interview at Toronto International Film Festival(TIFF) Johnson stated that, "Oculus' was a very positive experience for us and we are very proud of the film. 'Somnia' is a natural extension of that relationship."[10]

In September 2014, Johnson co-produced movie “Pawn sacrifice” which is based on the real life story of Bobby Fischer, one of the greatest players of chess. Though the story is widely known and appraised by all, no one is ready to finance the film. That was the time, Dale came to the rescue for financing the film and stating "What Hollywood may have been looking for in this story was to show the young kid from Brooklyn taking on the Soviet empire and having this great, glorious win."[11] The production cost of the film is between $19 and $20 million.[12]
