Dameer Khan (born 2001) is a singer-songwriter, composer and music producer. He made his debut song 'Easier' in 2018 and won many hearts with songs like "Amar Jaan," "Michelle," "Bashbo Bhalo," "Sun". [2][3]
Early Life and Career[edit]
Dameer was born in Dhaka, Bangladesh to Shahbaz Khan Pilu and Zareen Durdana.[4] From an early age he was surrounded by musicians and got inspiration from them. His father was the drummer and his uncle, Naquib Khan, was the frontman of the Bangladeshi band, Renaissance. His first ever instrument was a travel guitar which he took classes with. Then he started learning to play keyboard by watching YouTube tutorials. He then took drum lessons when his father opened up his own music school. When he was young, he listened to EDM, hard rock and metal music. He was a fan of bands like Iron Maiden, Black Sabbath and Led Zeppelin.[5]
When he was 16, he started sending his music to different labels, big YouTube channels and music blogs but he kept getting rejected. After two years of producing demos, he got a reply from Majestic Casual Records, a European label with whom he signed up with.[6]
He released his first song 'Easier' in 2018. In 2021 he released an EP consisting of 7 songs. Till then, all of his songs were in English but one song in particular in his EP, called 'Amar Jaan' had Bangla lyrics in its chorus. In 2022 he released his first independent song called ‘Bashbo Bhalo’ which was fully in Bangla.[7] He says he wants to push Bangladeshi music forward and make it easier for Bangladeshi people to become an artist. He thinks it needs more style, diversity and voices which will make Bangladeshis represented and emotionally connected. He is working on more songs which are in Bangla and some songs with a more upbeat tone which are not only for the Bangldeshis at home, but for people all over the world.[3]
He is now settled in Montreal, Canada, studying in McGill University.[7]
