Gelareh Sheibani (Persian: گلاره شیبانی‎), also known as GeLLa, is an Iranian singer, songwriter,[1] and music producer. She is known for the singles "Nagoo Tanhaei" and "Atre To". She performs in the jazz and blues genres.

Early life[edit]

Gelareh's was interested in singing from an early age. She formed a band with some friends, but when they had produced and published music videos, she was arrested and had to promise to stop performing, as it was illegal for women to sing solo in public. She has since moved out of Iran to continue working with her music.[2]

Career[edit]

Gelareh began her music career as a studio singer in Tehran at the age of 16 and recorded two albums with various artists. She has a number one record single in Iran.[citation needed]

Gelareh was arrested and prosecuted for performing musical activities in Iran in 2013.[3] She moved to China, where her sister lived at the time, and began performing pop and jazz songs. She then moved to Malaysia and subsequently to Turkey.[2]
