Lee Yu-bin (Korean: 이유빈; born March 7, 1997), also known by her stage name Dami (Korean: 다미), is a South Korean rapper and singer. She is well known as a member of South Korean girl group Dreamcatcher under Dreamcatcher Company.
Early life
Dami was born Lee Yu-bin in Gangnam-gu, Seoul, South Korea on March 7, 1997.
Career
2014-2016: Debut with Minx
She made her debut as a member of Minx with the release of their first digital single "Why Did You Come To My Home" on September 18, 2014.[1]
On November 29, 2016, Happyface Entertainment announced that Minx would be re-debuting under a new group name, Dreamcatcher. The group features the original five-member lineup along with the addition of two new members.[2]
2017: Dreamcatcher, Mix Nine
On January 13, 2017, Dami re-debuted as a member of Dreamcatcher with the release of their first single "Nightmare".[3]
On October 3, it was announced that she, along with three other members of Dreamcatcher, would be participating on YG Entertainment's reality survival show Mix Nine.[4] However, on December 10, their agency, Happyface Entertainment, announced that all four members would be leaving the show due to scheduling conflicts ahead of their Brazil tour.[5]
2018: World tour with Dreamcatcher
In February, Dami went on tour with Dreamcatcher throughout Europe, with dates in London, Lisbon, Madrid, Amsterdam, Berlin, Warsaw and Paris.[6][7] Then in May, the group went on their first Latin American tour, running between July 27 and August 8.[8] Before heading on tour, on July 15, 2018, Dreamcatcher signed a contract with Japanese record label Pony Canyon to make their Japanese debut before the end of November. Their first Japanese single, "What", was released on November 21.[9]
2019: Subsequent touring
Between March and May 2019, Dami continued touring with Dreamcatcher in their Asia tour 'Invitation From Nightmare City'. Stops consisted of Seoul, Manila, Singapore, Tokyo, Kobe and the canceled Jakarta stop, where a short fan-meeting was held instead due to undisclosed reasons. They later added three more stops to Melbourne and Sydney, Australia in addition to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, running between August and September. Unfortunately, the group's Melbourne stop was also canceled due to a fire occurring at 170 Russell theater on August 31, 2019.
Following the end of promotions for 'Deja Vu', it was announced that Dami and the other members of Dreamcatcher, would be embarking on their second European tour during October and November as well as their first U.S. tour throughout December. They performed without Handong due to her participation on the Chinese survival show Youth with You.
2020-present: Continued success, solo activities
On February 18, Dami returned with Dreamcatcher with their first studio album Dystopia: The Tree of Language. She also colaborated with solo artist AleXa and boy band In2It on the song "Be the Future", released under the name Millenasia Project on May 6, 2020.[10]
In July, Dreamcatcher released an OST single "R.o.S.E BLUE" for the mobile game Girl Cafe Gun, in which Dami wrote her rap lyrics.[11]
On May 14, 2021, Dami, along with fellow Dreamcatcher member Siyeon, participated in an OST for the drama Black Hole. The song was released in two versions, with the original version hitting number 1 and number 5 on the K-OST and Rock charts, respectively.[12]
On August 31, it was announced that Dreamcatcher's contract with Pony Canyon has ended.[13]
In April 2022, Dami made her comeback as a member of Dreamcatcher with the song "Maison" from their second Korean-language studio album. Apocalypse: Save Us on April 12.[14] The group received their first-ever music show win of their career on April 20 through Show Champion on MBC M after 5 years of debut.[15] Their second music show win was their goodbye stage performance on SBS MTV's "THE SHOW" on April 26.[16]
