Damian Bao is an American photographer, filmmaker, producer, and casting director. He is known for spearheading a hybrid casting approach that combines professionally trained actors and artists with real people found through street scouting,[1] social media, and research.[2] He is credited for discovering unique leads, such as Slick Woods in her acting debut Goldie[3] and Leyna Bloom in Port Authority[4] in which she made history as the first trans actor to lead a film at the 2019 Cannes Film Festival.[2]

Bao was listed on Who is Making Asian American Pacific Islander History in 2021: The GMA Inspiration List by Good Morning America and ABC News.[5] He has shared his expertise by delivering talks at the Sundance Film Festival, South by Southwest, Tribeca Festival, Cannes Film Festival,[2] and SAG-AFTRA Foundation.[6]
