Damian Wayne Kidd (born February 15, 1976) is an American lawyer. He is the founder of a personal injury and class action law firm, The Advocates; Driggs & Kidd in Boise, Idaho.

Biography[edit]

Kidd was born in Blackfoot, Idaho and has four siblings. Kidd's family owns and operates a farm in Idaho.

Kidd graduated from the University of Idaho College of Law in 2005. He worked as a deputy prosecutor for Bigham County in Idaho before leaving to join The Advocates personal injury law firm in 2007. Kidd eventually opened an Idaho branch of The Advocates law firm in both Boise and Twin Falls, Idaho.

Kidd married Jenifer Joy Kidd in 2004. They have three children together.

Political positions and activities[edit]

Kidd launched his political career in 2017 by challenging U.S. Representative Jason Chaffetz in Utah's Third Congressional District.[1] Kidd ran on a platform highlighting Chaffetz's growing unpopularity in the Third District. Kidd even attended a fundraiser in Washington D.C. with local residents upset with Chaffetz for attempting to overturn the District's legislation regarding assisted suicide.[2][3]

Chaffetz announced his resignation from Congress shortly after a hostile reception at a town hall in February 2017.[4][5] Kidd entered the 2017 Utah's 3rd congressional district special election to fill Chaffetz's vacant seat.

Kidd was eventually eliminated from contention on the fourth ballot at the Republican state convention. John Curtis, the former Mayor of Provo, Utah, went on to win the primary and then the general election for the Third Congressional District of Utah.[6]
