Damien Lay

From EverybodyWiki Bios & Wiki

Damien Lay (born 1973) is a (nationality: Australian?) film director, writer and producer. He is famous for his works 'The Battle of Long Tan', 'Semi Colin' and 'Game of Aces'. Lay is also a bona fide explorer, searching for some of the most well hidden historical treasures such as the missing plane and remains of Charles Kingsford Smith.

Career

Damien Lay's career began at the young age of thirteen, where he participated in a short-lived acting career. This led to an immense love for all things film production, and by the age of fourteen, Lay was sweeping studio floors and working as a runner, from which he moved on to various areas of film and television production, and commercial production.

His most notable and possibly most famous work is the 2006 feature documentary 'The Battle of Long Tan', narrated by Sam Worthington, in which he had a hand in writing, directing and producing. The documentary gave a detailed explanation of the battle as well as first-hand accounts by some of the ATF (Australian Task Force) commanders. [1]

Lay is not only a successful movie director, writer and producer, but an enthusiastic adventurer as well. He has completed many expeditions around the globe for the sake of both his movie making and personal interest, including a search in Myanmar for the Great Bell of Dhammazedi. Lay and his team found enormous success for their troubles, claiming to have located the Bell as well as De Brito's galleon with the help of sonar imagery. His adventures in Myanmar didn't stop there, and Lay flung himself into another historical mystery of the ages - Charles Kingsford Smith. Lay was involved with the privately-funded Lady Southern Cross Expedition, a search and recovery mission for the remains of Kingsford Smith and John Thompson "Tommy" Pethybridge, and of course the wreckage of the Lady Southern Cross plane. Success was again forthcoming in 2009 when Lay stated he was certain he had found the Lady Southern Cross at Aye Island in the Andaman Sea.
