Challenging all notions of genre, Damien Lay's 'Semi Colin' is a living, breathing art installation. Part performance, part art, part social comment, Colin surfaces from social exile to philosophize on his life's obsessive work as an erotic artist. [1]. Just as Colin's lusty provocateurs emerge from the paper through quivering brush and pen, exploratory filmmaker Damien Lay coaxes Colin from the self-imposed shadows of his explicit imagination, to delicately explore the blurry boundaries of eroticism and art.
Conceived and created by director Damien Lay, the film is an exploration of the universal conundrum, what is art and what is pornography? Like looking through a window into a mirror, the film challenges us to explore our inner self just as Colin does, for the first time in his life, stimulating the intellect and providing the opportunity to explore our own natural voyeuristic urges.
'Semi Colin' is a beautiful and simplistic look into the eyes of an unknown artist, facing the morality of his passion, his art and his compulsion.[2]
