Damon Rusden is the 2017 Napier electorate candidate for the Green Party of Aotearoa New Zealand.
Early life[edit]
Damon was raised in state housing by his single mother in the Manawatu and Hawkes Bay. His father was largely absent through time spent in and out of prison. His state house upbringing, being in tertiary study, surrounded by politically active students are factors that inspired him to become a politician.
Currently Damon is studying politics, international relations and public policy. He has also gained diplomas in Multimedia Journalism and Culinary Arts. He is the first person in his family to finish high school, and one of the very few in his extended family to have received a tertiary education.
Entering politics[edit]
In 2017, he was announced candidate for Napier. [1]
