Damory Coaches[1] is a bus and coach operator based in Blandford Forum in Dorset, England. It is a subsidiary of the Go-Ahead Group.
History[edit]
Damory Coaches was established by service station proprietor Vic Kimber in the early 1970s in Blandford Forum. It was named after the neighbouring pub, the Damory Inn.[2] Starting with minibuses the fleet was built up to six coaches operating private and school contract services. A depot was built in Blandford Heights. A weekly service operated from Pimperne to Blandford.[3]
In May 1993 the business was sold to Wilts & Dorset. In November 1993 the businesses of Oakfield Travel[2] and Stanbridge & Crichel Bus Company[4] were purchased followed in January 1994 by Blandford Bus Company.[3]
Damory Coaches was included in the August 2003 sale of Wilts & Dorset to the Go-Ahead Group.[5] It is now part of Go South Coast.
Operations[edit]
Damory Coaches primarily operates school bus services. In October 2013 it commenced operating the Rossmore Flyer from Alderney to Upper Parkstone, now cascaded into routes 7A, 7B and 7C.[6] It also operates service X12 to Weymouth via Dorchester which was previously operated by Wilts & Dorset and services previously worked by Wilts & Dorset's Blandford depot.
Fleet[edit]
Damory was well known for its fleet of Bristol VRs the last being withdrawn in 2009. As at May 2011 the fleet consisted of 65 buses and coaches.[7] Much of the fleet has cascaded from Southern Vectis and Wilts & Dorset.
