Daniel William Sooman (born 1997[2]), known online as Dani, is a comedic Norwegian[3] YouTuber and an indie game developer[4] known for Squid Game inspired video game Crab Game , the open world game Muck and his under-development game Karlson 3D. He currently has 3.3 million subscribers on YouTube.[1]

Career[edit]

Dani started making programming and indie game development videos in 2018.[1]

In late 2019, Sooman started the development of Karlson 3D prompted by commenters challenging him to do so. It was these development log videos that gained him the initial following on YouTube.[5]

In late 2020, during the surge in popularity of the game Among Us, Sooman decided to recreate the viral game in 3D. However, the game couldn't be released for playing among the general public fearing legal retribution from the video game developer company Innersloth, the creators of Among Us.[6] Following the release of his video, he appeared playing this game along with many other famous YouTubers like MrBeast, Dream and Jacksepticeye.[7]

In June 2021, after getting a comment on his YouTube video that he couldn't make a open-world Survival game, Sooman decided to create a Minecraft styled, simplistic open world game which he called "Muck". This game was released on video game platform Steam and has 4000 positive reviews.[8]

In October 2021, Sooman released a multiplayer party game called Crab Game which was initially inspired by the Netflix series Squid Game and consists of several mini games. It was comedically renamed to Crab Game with an excuse of preventing legal retribution from Netflix.[9] The game became extremely famous with about 30,000 concurrent players at a time and more than 20,000 concurrent viewers on Twitch.[10]
