Dr. Daniel Burnett is an entrepreneur, inventor, and physician. He currently sits on the faculty in the department of Bioengineering at UCSF and serves as the President and CEO of TheraNova.

Career[edit]

Burnett is the founder of San Francisco-based medical device incubator TheraNova, established in 2006.[1]

Since 2006, Burnett has raised, or helped raise, over $230 million for nine venture-backed TheraNova spinouts: BARONova, Velomedix, EMKinetix, Sequana Medical, Channel Medsystems, Potrero Medical, Esculon and Respirix.[2]

In 2016, Burnett joined Cognito Therapeutics as Chief Technical Officer.[3]

Burnett completed his M.D. and M.B.A. at Duke University, and received his undergraduate degree from the University of Pennsylvania.[citation needed] He is a licensed physician in the state of California, and previously worked at the Food and Drug Administration, Mayo Clinic, and Medventure Associates.[4]

In 2011, Burnett joined the faculty at UCSF, where he serves as an Adjunct Professor in the Department of Bioengineering.[5]
